Pilates

Private Pilates : Meet with a Private Pilates Trainer to train specifically in Mat Pilates or Pilates Reformer.

Mat Pilates is a total body exercise regimen designed by Joseph Pilates that increases strength and flexibility and helps to improve posture. It is primarily performed standing or on a mat utilizing resistance bands, loops, balls, and gliders.

Pilates Reformer is a piece of resistance exercise equipment designed by Joseph Pilates. It consists of a platform that moves back and forth along a carriage. Resistance is provided by the exerciser’s body weight and by springs and pulleys attached to the carriage and platform. Pilates Reformer challenges your entire body with great attention to the core. Excellent for improving posture, strength and flexibility.

To sign up for a private Pilates or Dance session:

Step 2: Purchase Sessions

Purchase session(s) online here prior to your first appointment. Please bring the receipt indicating proof of purchase to your first session.

Step 3: Schedule training sessions

Chair Massage

**SUSPENDED DURING CAMPUS CLOSURE DUE TO COVID-19**

Feeling stressed, tense or mentally foggy? A few minutes of chair massage can improve circulation, reduce stress, relieve tension, decrease pain and rejuvenate your spirit. Chair massage is provided by a professional practitioner in an ergonomic chair and focuses on key tension areas in the back, neck, shoulders and arms.

Chair Massage Locations:

  • Mondays: Wooden Center Lobby, 11am-2pm
  • Tuesdays: KREC Lobby, 5pm-7pm
  • Wednesdays: Wooden Lobby, 11am-2pm
  • Fridays: Wooden Center Lobby, 11am-2pm

How to Reserve:

Step 1: Purchase Minutes Online or In Person

  1. Buy online
  2. Or copy/paste into browser www.recreation.ucla.edu/register
  3. Click on "Recreation Online Store,"
  4. Click on "Guest Passes & 1 on 1 Services,"
  5. Select Chair Massage, add to shopping cart and complete steps to purchase the minutes you desire. (You may need to create a new account using your 9-digit Bruin ID number or your UCLA Recreation membership number.)
  • Or, Buy In Person--Visit Sales and Services (at the John Wooden Center--ground floor)

Step 2: Booking an Appointment by Phone or In Person

  • Call FITWELL at 310-206-8307 (Wooden Center) or 310-983-3064 (KREC) with your receipt of purchase for verification, provide your contact info and the FITWELL consultant will assist you in booking an available appointment
  • In Person, visit the FITWELL desk at the Wooden Center of KREC with your receipt of purchase for verification, provide your contact info and the FITWELL consultant will assist you in booking an available appointment.

Massage can be scheduled in any 10 minute increment. For example, purchase 60 minutes and schedule six 10 minute massages, four 15 minute massages or in any other way you would like to break it up.

NOTICE: You must cancel or reschedule within 24 hours of your appointment or your minutes will be considered used. For refunds, please visit Sales and Service - Membership in the John Wooden Center (2nd floor). Refunds will be granted for requests received within 3 months of purchase. Minutes must be used within one year of purchase date.

Alexander Technique

Meet with a certified Alexander Technique Practitioner to learn proper movement mechanics and posture. Great for releasing unnecessary tension in the body that may be causing pain. This technique helps you to re-educate your mind and body to move, sit, stand and perform daily activities with grace and ease.
