Bruin Health Improvement Program (BHIP) .5: Nutrition & Weight Loss

BHIP .5

 

The Bruin Health Improvement Program (BHIP) .5 is a three-month physical and mindfulness weight loss program designed to increase the fitness and thereby the health of the UCLA Employee. BHIP .5 is a customized program for those who are 50 or more pounds overweight and/or severely sedentary. It is funded by UCLA and is a tremendous investment in UCLA’s most precious resource: the staff and faculty.

**Must be employed 50% time or more to be eligible to apply for BHIP and/or BHIP.5. 

Winter 2020 Session:

Applications will be available on the BHIP.5 website from 1/6/20 through 1/20/20.  Acceptance emails will be sent on 1/23/20.

Program dates: 2/3/20 - 4/24/20. 

 

Important Information: 

Class time options for Winter 2020: 6:15am or 5:15pm four days a week (Mon, Tues, Weds & Thurs)

There is a $150 repeat fee for individuals who have participated in at least four weeks of the program and who wish to repeat BHIP.5.

BHIP.5 is no longer offering deferrals.

Graduate Student Employees (at 50% time or more) are eligible to apply for BHIP and/or BHIP.5.

Tuesday 12/3: Workout classes will meet at the Circuit Room, 1st floor, John Wooden Center.

Thursday 12/5:  Workout classes will meet at the NW Corner of Drake Stadium.

Bruin Health Improvement Program (BHIP) Onramp: Strength and Conditioning

BHIP OnRamp

The Bruin Health Improvement Program (BHIP) is a three-month program—exclusively for UCLA faculty and staff at no cost (for first time participants)—offering participants intensive lifestyle training in areas of exercise, nutrition, stress management and mental conditioning. 

**Must be employed 50% time or more to be eligible to apply for BHIP and/or BHIP.5. 

BHIP ONRAMP

BHIP OnRamp is a comprehensive conditioning program that will improve cardiovascular fitness and overall strength and mobility. It is appropriate for individuals without current limitations looking to become much more physically active and nutritionally mindful. 

Winter 2020 Session:

Applications will be available on the BHIP website from 1/6/20 through 1/20/20. Lottery results will be sent on 1/23/20.

Bruin Health Improvement Program (BHIP) Ongoing

BHIP Ongoing

As a BHIP graduate, you have the opportunity to continue what you've learned in BHIP OnRamp with BHIP OnGoing. Classes are available five days a week at 6:15am, 7:15am, 11am, 12noon, 5:15pm, and 6:15pm.

Physical Activity Class Information:

Monday (12/2) - Friday (12/6)

Monday 12/2:  All classes will meet at the NE corner of Drake Stadium. 

Tuesday 12/3: All classes will meet at the NE corner of Drake Stadium. 

Wednesday 12/4: All classes will meet at the NE corner of Drake Stadium.

Thursday 12/5: All classes will meet at the NE corner of Drake Stadium.

Friday 12/6: All classes will meet at the NE corner of Drake Stadium.

Register for BHIP Ongoing:

Rates for BHIP Ongoing are as follows:

$30/month for Recreation members

$50/month for faculty/staff without Recreation membership

As long as you have graduated BHIP On Ramp, you are eligible to enroll or re-enroll in BHIP Ongoing at any time. To sign up, just make your payment at Sales and Cashiering at the John Wooden Center. You may pay upfront or arrange for payroll deduction.
